The Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) will announce their 2018 Off-Field Award winners June 12-15 and June 18-19, 2018.
The announcements will be made at ProFootballWriters.org, through the PFWA’s official Twitter feed (@PFWAwriters) and via email to PFWA members and NFL league and club PR staffs each day at 1 pm ET.
Tuesday, June 12: Dick McCann Award (Reporter who has made a long and distinguished contribution to pro football through coverage)
Nominees: Sam Farmer (Los Angeles Times), Clark Judge (Talk of Fame Network), Jeff Legwold (ESPN.com), Gary Myers (former New York Daily News) and Charean Williams (Pro Football Talk).
Wednesday, June 13: George Halas Award (NFL player, coach or staff member who overcomes the most adversity to succeed)
Nominees: Keenan Allen (Los Angeles Chargers), Nick Foles (Philadelphia Eagles), Marquise Goodwin (San Francisco), Nate Solder (New York Giants) and Mike Zimmer (head coach, Minnesota Vikings).
Thursday, June 14: Good Guy Award (NFL player for his qualities and professional style in helping pro football writers do their jobs)
Nominees: Calais Campbell (Jacksonville), Malcolm Jenkins (Philadelphia), Chris Long (Philadelphia), Josh McCown (New York Jets), Joe Thomas (Cleveland-retired) and Jason Witten (Dallas-retired).
Friday, June 15: Jack Horrigan Award (League or club official for his or her qualities and professional style in helping the pro football writers do their job)
Nominees: Chris Ballard (Indianapolis GM), Jerry Jones (Dallas owner/president/GM), Randall Liu (former NFL senior director of football communications), Brian McCarthy (NFL VP of communications) and Les Snead (Los Angeles Rams GM).
Monday, June 18: Pete Rozelle Award (NFL club public relations staff that consistently strives for excellence in its dealings and relationships with the media)
Nominees: Buffalo, Denver, Los Angeles Rams, Miami and Minnesota.
Tuesday, June 19: Paul “Dr. Z” Zimmerman Award (Lifetime achievement as an assistant coach in the NFL) – two honorees
Nominees: Joe Bugel, Bobb McKittrick, Jim McNally, Emmitt Thomas and Dave Toub.
